Biggest wins: Most of Mainz’s heaviest wins come from their long stretches in the second division and old Regionalliga Südwest. There was a 9:1 against Sportfreunde Eisbachtal and an 8:0 against the almost-Bundesliga side SV Alsenborn in 1973/74. In the second division, the biggest statement came in 1994/95 with a 7:1 against local rivals FSV Frankfurt. Their biggest away win in professional football has happened twice: 5:0 at Rot-Weiß Erfurt in 1991/92, and 5:0 at Werder Bremen on December 17, 2019. In the Bundesliga, the motto seems to be: Nullfünf love five-nil.
